Job Summary: You will serve as a MANAGER in the Survivability and Weapons Effect Division of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band is equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.

Major Duties:

  • You will assist the Department Head in directing, planning, and reviewing the work of the Survivability and Weapons Effect Division.
  • You will serve as Survivability and Weapons Effect technical consultant and advisor to the Department Head in the areas of research, development, test evaluation, and in-service engineering.
  • You will direct, plan and review the work of the Division.
  • You will establish local guidance, procedures, and processes for business, administrative, and support functions.
  • You will collaborate vertically and horizontally across the Command to disseminate information, share lessons, develop plans, and advocate on behalf of the Survivability and Weapons Effect Division.
  • You will mentor personnel within the Survivability and Weapons Effect Division to accelerate knowledge transfer and professional growth.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-4 (GS-12/13 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer leading a team through developing long-range plans, setting priorities and organizing resources in the areas of platform survivability and weapon effects; should have experience in testing and evaluation of submarines and surface ships related to survivability and weapon effects in the areas of modeling and simulation; at-sea and land-based methods for experimental testing of scale models, unique test vehicles, and operational ships; and data acquisition, data processing, and data analysis procedures; and experience in Navy shock qualification processes, shock hardening processes, design for damage tolerance, advance protection concepts, armor, fire resistance and detection systems, and damage control.
