Job Summary: You will serve as a Newport's Department Head in the Division Newport's Corporate Operations (Code 10) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-6 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.

Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for providing cost-efficient business services to the overall command.
  • You will be responsible for executing a full range of managerial responsibilities include management and execution of day-to-day business operations of the Corporate Operations Department.
  • You will be responsible for Human Resources, Infrastructure, Corporate Communications/Public Affairs, ACIO/Information Technology, Security, and Property Management.
  • You will be responsible for managing department-wide efforts including workforce shaping and succession planning, continuous process improvement initiatives, contracting strategies, and department strategic initiatives.
  • You will manage a diverse subordinate team of managers, provide oversight of various business functional responsibilities, and provide leadership with alternatives, solutions, and proposed courses of action.
  • You will have the ability to discern strategic trends and goals, translate these into tactical objectives, and effectively plan, organize and delegate tasks to achieve these goals.
  • You will provide authoritative advice and consultation to Division leadership, WC, NAVSEA, Navy and other government agencies; represent Division Newport on the Warfare Center Corporate Operations Department Head Community of Interest.
  • You will ensure that programs/resources are protected from waste, fraud and mismanagement and programs achieve desired results.
  • You will ensure that resource use is consistent with DON mission; and reliable/timely information is obtained, maintained, reported and used for decision-making.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-5 (GS-13/14 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leading teams and coordinate personnel and organizational assets to advance the mission of Naval Undersea Warfare Centers by leveraging experience in corporate operations, infrastructure, and human capital management to ensure efficient and effective execution of operations, while fostering strong customer service and interpersonal relationships.
