Ames National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a Manager of Construction Projects. This position manages and coordinates all efforts required to assure compliance with building codes and contracts in the construction or modification of existing or new facilities.

 

Responsibilities of the position include leading or coordinating construction projects such as developing a new facility; the addition, expansion or extension of an existing facility; or the renovation/alterations to an existing facility.  This position collaborates with project teams, construction sites, and management. This individual will develop assignments, timetables, and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project; organizes and directs construction personnel and ensures that labor, materials and equipment are delivered in accordance with project specifications. This position helps to develop the preliminary designs, prepare scopes of work, schedules and cost estimates. This position also acts as the technical expert in contract negotiations. Evaluate safety training requirements and oversee training and safety programs within Ames Laboratory Facilities Services Group.  Serve as a member of the Ames Laboratory Emergency Response Team.

 

The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work with Ames Laboratory staff as well as external stakeholders and contractors. The candidate will also possess strong tact and maintain positive client and workplace relations. As problems arise, this individual will need to quickly identify beneficial solutions, so problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are advantageous. Strong organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to organize and coordinate work within various programs and projects is essential for success in this position.

 

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
