The Manager, Business Banking Credit Risk Analytics supports the Business Banking and Credit Risk teams to make quality, fact-based decisions to achieve business objectives and optimize returns within risk appetite. You will use analytical solutions and a deep understanding of the business to help set risk appetite, inform business initiatives and decisions, monitor business performance and identify issues and opportunities.
The role has three primary areas of accountability. Across all of these areas, you will act as a trusted advisor to Business and Risk colleagues, providing specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. This includes working with stakeholders to identify business objectives and requirements, conducting effective analysis to support decisions, presenting findings and recommendations in a simple, clear way to drive action and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
1) Generate insights to inform executive decision-making
Develop a deep understanding of Business Banking’s priorities, credit risk policies, risk appetite and risk/return dynamics, including the drivers of risk and profitability.
Proactively identify drivers of performance and emerging issues, trends and opportunities to inform decision-making.
Synthesize findings and make recommendations to address issues, improve portfolio performance and/or capture opportunities.
Conduct deep dive analyses to answer key questions and support business and risk initiatives.
2) Build monitoring tools and processes
Develop portfolio performance monitoring framework, including required reporting and tools, to understand and communicate overall and segment level portfolio performance. Regularly refresh the framework over time to ensure it is best serving stakeholder needs and driving required transparency and insights.
Design and execute ongoing risk reports, automating production wherever possible and ensuring users can easily absorb information and generate insights.
Build best in class self-serve analytic tools and dashboards to enable Risk and Business users to conduct their own deep dive analysis using fulsome risk data. Train users on how to effectively use tools to drive insights.
Explore how best to incorporate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into monitoring tools and the generation of insights.
3) Curate rich data to drive insights and ensure data quality and reporting accuracy
Source the best available Business Banking portfolio data, market benchmarks and macroeconomic indicators from various internal and external sources to fulfill analytics needs.
Research existing/emerging risk management best practices and recommend enhancements to data sources and practices.
Design, implement and manage core business processes and controls to ensure the accuracy of risk data used in reporting.
Monitor data quality, identify any issues and work with data owners, Data Governance and Technology to correct issues and ensure the accuracy and completeness of risk data.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge & Experience
5-7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
In-depth knowledge of risk management theory, processes and portfolio management reporting techniques.
In-depth knowledge of reporting & analytics concepts and applications.
In-depth knowledge of risk systems technology preferred
In-depth product knowledge for Business Banking is an asset.
BMO organizational knowledge is an asset
Expertise in regulatory requirements is an asset
Skills
Strong financial, quantitative, and analytic skills to make data driven decisions
Strong statistical/mathematical skills including Multivariate Statistics, Regression, Decision Trees and Forecasting
In depth expertise with key technologies including SAS, SAS EM, SQL, KnowledgeStudio, Python, Microsoft Products and PowerBI
Proven ability to apply expertise and creativity to solve complex problems
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Proven ability to build strong relationships within Risk, the Business and external partners
Proven ability to influence without authority, build alignment and drive change
Team-oriented, collaborative and flexible

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
