Maintenance Mechanic, Lead - Facilities

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic, Lead performs a variety of tasks related to executing a safe and efficient operation of repair of all equipment and support systems.

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities
• Perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, building maintenance, and repair of patient care equipment
• Provide guidance and support to multiple teams and project simultaneously.
• Participate in leadership responsibilities that include but not limited to: coaching, training, performance evaluation, employee engagement, and disciplinary actions up to and including termination of employment status
• Collaborate with vendors and distributors to ensure accurate item delivery dates and supplies and to remedy back orders
• Complete work order in a timely manner and ensure proper documentation is completed in accordance with DNV standards
• Completes daily route checks by rounding in and around all UMC off site locations, to check for and identify any maintenance issues
• Respond to work orders for assistance needed with general repairs of patient care equipment, office equipment, or grounds service
• Provide support to supervisor(s) as back up in their absence or assist with uncommon personnel or technical issues that may arise
• All other related assigned duties

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• +5 year of experience with Maintenance/ Construction work and minimum foundation in electrical and plumbing maintenance
• + 2 years of leadership experience, leading people and/or processes

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to participate in Administrator On Call schedule is required
• Knowledge of Building codes and regulations as it relates to the position
• Knowledge of and prior experience with building and equipment preventive maintenance and general repair is needed
• Trade-level practices, tools, and materials of the maintenance trades
• Proven knowledge of General maintenance and repair practices, tools and materials of the carpentry, locksmith, painting, roofing, plumbing, and HVAC trades.
• Familiarity with various types of electrical systems, plumbing, painting, mechanical repair, and general building techniques helpful

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

The person in this role regularly works with vendors, department leaders, and hospital employees

Physical Capabilities

Visual acuity required continuously. Auditory acuity required continuously. Ability to speak is required frequently. Sitting, walking, and standing are frequent, and bending and carrying are occasional. Lifting/carrying requirements are light to Heavy.

Environmental/Working Conditions

This position is mostly subject to inside environmental conditions, however, may be required to be outdoors occasionally. May require frequent work with environmental hazards (i.e., noisy environment, with infectious agents, near power supplies/machinery, etc.) Occasionally may require work with toxic chemicals. Danger from falls, cuts and abrasions is present. Subject to various shifts. Subject to call-backs at all times. Telephone is required.
