Produces machine parts by assembling tooling, setting up programming, and operating CNC (computer numerical control) for axis mills and multi-axis lathes; Set up and operate manual machine (Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other specialized CNC and manual machines).

This is a 2nd shift position with the following hours: Monday-Friday; 3:30 PM-12:00 AM (Overtime may be required). Position may train on 1st shift depending on trainer availability.

What You Will Do

  • Interprets blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs sketches, and interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.

  • Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.

  • Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process.

  • Performs machining setups and makes adjustments as required.

  • Conducts inspections of work produced.

  • Checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.

  • Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards.

  • Lift up to 35 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Role will involve standing for 8+ hours.

  • Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures and ensure safety and quality.

  • Report unsafe practices and/or conditions to the appropriate individuals to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.

  • Comply with EH&S policies and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate PPE.

  • Attend EH&S trainings as required.

  • Must be available for overtime, including extended workdays and weekends.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

  • Prior manual and CNC Machinist experience 

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to read CNC G codes, M codes.

  • Background with Quick Change tooling and set up reduction techniques.

  • Ability to interpret schematics and/or technical drawings.

  • Familiar with cutting tools, indexable tooling, tool holders, chucks and other machine shop tooling.

  • Intermediate computer skills in terms of typing, navigating screens and learning new software programs.
