Job Description:
Parsons are seeking an experienced Logistics Lead - Airfield to manage and coordinate all site logistics activities for a Runway / Airfield / Airport project. The role is responsible for planning, executing, and controlling on-site logistics operations while ensuring effective coordination between multiple stakeholders, contractors, and project teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in site logistics for large infrastructure projects, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to align logistics planning with construction schedules and airside operational requirements.
The Logistics Lead plays a critical role in ensuring efficient site logistics operations for Runway / Airfield / Airport projects by managing material flow, coordinating stakeholders, and integrating logistics planning with construction schedules. This role requires strong site presence, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to manage complex logistics interfaces in a dynamic, high-risk project environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Site Logistics Plan in coordination with the overall project execution plan.
- Plan and manage site access, material flow, laydown areas, storage facilities, and internal traffic movement.
- Ensure logistics planning aligns with construction schedules, work sequencing, and airside operational constraints.
- Oversee daily logistics operations on site, including material deliveries, equipment mobilization, and workforce movement.
- Ensure smooth coordination of logistics activities across multiple work fronts such as runway, taxiway, apron, and airside zones.
- Monitor site logistics performance and resolve operational issues to avoid delays or disruptions to construction activities.
- Coordinate logistics activities with internal stakeholders including Project Managers, Construction Managers, Planning Engineers, HSE, and QA/QC teams.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and airport authorities.
- Manage logistics interfaces between contractors to ensure efficient use of site resources and access routes.
- Coordinate permits, access approvals, and security requirements for personnel, vehicles, and equipment, especially in restricted and airside areas.
- Ensure compliance with airport operational procedures and aviation authority requirements.
- Manage temporary facilities, fencing, signage, and traffic management within the project site.
- Work closely with the Planning Team to integrate logistics activities into the project schedule.
- Identify potential logistics constraints and proactively propose mitigation measures.
- Support short-term and look-ahead planning to ensure uninterrupted material and equipment availability.
- Ensure logistics activities comply with HSE requirements, site safety rules, and environmental controls.
- Coordinate with the HSE team to manage risks related to traffic movement, lifting operations, and material handling.
- Promote safe logistics practices across all site operations.
- Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to track material deliveries and storage.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and protection of materials and equipment on site.
- Monitor logistics KPIs and report on logistics performance.
- Maintain logistics records including delivery schedules, access permits, and coordination logs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports for project management.
- Support audits and inspections related to site logistics and access management.
- Lead and coordinate logistics staff, supervisors, and site support teams.
- Provide guidance and direction to ensure efficient execution of logistics activities.
- Foster strong collaboration between logistics, construction, and planning teams.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in logistics roles within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in airport, airfield, runway, or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Strong experience managing site logistics and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of construction site logistics and material flow management.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to integrate logistics planning with construction schedules and site constraints.
- Familiarity with airside access, security, and operational requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
- Experience working in live airport environments.
- Knowledge of traffic management planning and site access control.
- Familiarity with logistics software or tracking systems.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and changing priorities.
- Strong leadership presence with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
