Job Summary
• The Light & Motion Sensor Architect defines and delivers sensing solutions for laptops, enabling intelligent features such as auto-brightness, presence detection, wake-on-approach, orientation awareness, and power optimization. This role bridges sensor hardware, firmware, OS, and platform architecture to create reliable, low-power, user-centric experiences.
Responsibilities
• Define sensor architecture for laptop platforms, including:
- Ambient light / color temperature sensors (ALS / CCT)
- Motion and presence sensing (IMU, human presence detection, IR/PIR, mmWave)
• Translate UX and platform requirements into sensor specifications:
- Accuracy, latency, sampling rate, power, and thermal behavior
• Architect always-on, ultra-low-power sensing pipelines
• Define sensor placement and optical/mechanical constraints with ID and ME teams
• Lead sensor fusion strategies (light + motion + proximity)
• Drive interface and integration decisions:
- I²C / SPI, GPIO interrupts, EC integration
- Windows / Linux / macOS sensor frameworks
• Define calibration, factory trim, and field compensation strategies
• Support bring-up, debug, validation, and mass production
• Work with silicon vendors and ODM/OEM partners
• Influence future laptop sensing roadmap and feature planning
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
