Position Summary

Position responsible for access for Library materials to clients through acquisition of materials, creation and maintenance of records, maintenance of materials, and customer service at service desk.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Acquires materials, processes materials for shelving and processes invoices for materials received.

  • Catalogs and classifies materials.

  • Prepares and updates records in library's bibliographic databases.

  • Maintains client and circulation record databases.

  • Maintains client registration records for all library on line information services.

  • Prepares invoices for library services or use of library facilities.

  • Locates materials that are requested and not owned, determines most appropriate and timely means of transmission of request's and acquits materials.

  • Receives requests from outside libraries for materials owned and transmits materials.

  • Receives fee-based photocopy requests and transmits materials.

  • Attends service desks, checking materials in and out, renewing materials, recalling materials, placing items on waiting lists, selling copicards and handling client questions and complaints regarding library policies and procedures and library hardware and software.

  • Collects, prepares and sends journal issues to binder.

  • Monitors volumes returned from binder, certifies information, processes volumes for shelving and approves invoices for payment.

  • Reviews collections, identifies items in need of treatment, determines appropriate treatment, performs in-house repairs and documents treatment.

  • Gathers information and maintains files related to material conversation.

  • Reshelves books and journals and shelf-reads book and journal stacks.

  • Schedules use of library facilities.

  • Provides photocopy support for library services and programs.

  • Assists supervisor in hiring, training and leadership duties as required.

  • Receives, sorts and distributes mail.

  • Maintains photocopiers and printers, calling for service if needed.

  • Maintains or collates statistics; produces reports.

  • Maintains office supplies.

Salary Range

$17.03 - $24.61 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
