About the role:
- Draft, review, and negotiate LOIs, Lease Agreements, Leave & License Agreements, and CAM agreements for retail stores across malls and high streets in India.
- Manage amendments, side letters, and letter agreements related to retail property contracts.
- Coordinate with external law firms to conduct property due diligence and oversee transaction completion, including stamp duty, registration, and related compliances.
- Review landlord and mall management drafts to ensure inclusion of Levi’s standard clauses and alignment with internal policies, legal requirements, and business objectives.
- Advise stakeholders on critical contract obligations, renewals, extensions, modifications, and closures.
- Draft and finalize termination letters under Schedule II of Master Franchise Agreements, including coordination on store-level full and final settlements.
- Handle co-working space agreements for corporate and regional offices.
- Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations impacting the retail sector.
India – Commercial
- Conduct first-level review of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with Levi’s standard clauses, including payment terms, GST, FCPA, compliance, force majeure, dispute resolution, and confidentiality.
- Support commercial agreements including franchise, distribution, MSAs, and SOWs.
- Deliver internal training on contract processes and legal policies to cross-functional teams.
India – Litigation & Consumer Complaints
- Manage real estate-related litigation and disputes.
- Handle consumer complaints and notices before Consumer Courts and Legal Metrology authorities.
- Provide legal inputs to the Retail Business Development team for negotiations and dispute management.
South Asia
- Draft and manage distribution agreements for South Asia markets including Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
- Coordinate with global teams to support documentation related to IPR, brand protection, and enforcement.
Stakeholder Partnership & Process Excellence
- Partner closely with Retail, Business Development, Regional Commercial, Finance, and global legal teams to anticipate risks and enable timely project closures.
- Support legal aspects of new store openings, store refits, and store size changes.
- Drive implementation and continuous improvement of contract management processes, including usage of CLM platforms.

About you
- Experience & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a reputed institution, with 5+ years of experience in real estate legal contracts and commercial legal matters.
- Legal Expertise: Strong knowledge of Indian property laws, contract law, commercial laws, consumer laws, and real estate regulations.
- Commercial Mindset: Ability to balance legal risk with business opportunity in a dynamic retail environment.
- Negotiation & Communication: Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Execution & Ownership: Detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of managing multiple matters and deadlines independently.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working cross-functionally and with external counsel in a fast-paced environment.
- Process & Systems: Experience working with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools is preferred.
- Learning Agility: Fast learner with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
