Job Description

About the Role:

  •  Acting as the main point of contact for all legal aspects of Invesco’s APAC ETF businesses, including local ETFs and cross-listings
  • Serving as the APAC regional legal representative within Invesco’s global ETF legal function, partnering closely with the EMEA and Americas ETF legal representatives to ensure globally aligned standards and coordinated cross‑regional support
  • Drafting, reviewing and updating prospectuses, fund documents and service provider agreements; preparing and submitting applications for regulatory authorisation and listings
  • Advising on ETF structuring and launch in compliance with local and international legal frameworks
  • Acting as primary liaison with regulators and exchanges for ETF-related approvals, inquiries, and ongoing legal matters
  • Collaborate with the APAC Legal team and the wider global Legal group on APAC ETF matters, ensuring legal analysis, documentation, and regulatory approaches are tailored to local requirements and aligned with business objectives
  • Partnering with the APAC and global ETF business teams including product development; product platform management; sales; compliance; risk; capital markets and portfolio management, and providing advice to internal stakeholders on ETF-related legal and regulatory issues
  • Monitoring and advising on regulatory developments in the APAC region affecting the APAC ETF businesses, including marketing/distribution of the ETFs in local markets
  • Participating in cross-departmental projects and key regulatory initiatives
  • Liaising with other departments and external counsel
  • Identifying and advising on the effective management of legal risk to the Invesco APAC ETF business and implementing, coordinating and managing commensurate internal controls to achieve these outcomes
  • Participating in other projects, workstreams, and initiatives as part of the APAC Legal Team, as required

Requirement for the Role:

  • Strong academic background and legal training. Qualified to practise law in one or more jurisdictions
  •   8+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in an in-house role, with strong ETF/funds/asset management background
  • Direct experience engaging with regulators and exchanges in APAC markets
  • Some knowledge of UCITS regulations helpful but not essential
  • Prior experience advising on cross-border ETF passporting regimes is a plus
  • Fluent in English and Chinese, both spoken and written
  • Liaising in a proactive, problem-solving manner with other functional areas on legal matters
  • Strong stakeholder management with regulators, exchanges, and external counsel.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives in product development and distribution
  • Ability to quickly grasp and solve complex problems
  • Ability to deal with and manage change in a fluid environment
  • Ability to examine issues from multiple perspectives
  • Optimistic, positive attitude; a “can-do” approach
  • Display a high degree of interpersonal and political savvy, tact and diplomacy with all constituencies
