Job Description
Brookfield is currently seeking to fill a highly motivated Legal Associate position with our dynamic, fast-paced and evolving organization. This role will be reporting into and working closely with the Managing Director, Legal & Regulatory. The Associate will support a wide variety of internal and external facing legal matters and strategic initiatives across Brookfield’s global asset management franchise.
• Securities Regulation - Assist with the execution of debt and equity securities offerings and other securities-based transactions, including Brookfield issuer bids
• Corporate Governance - Assist the Managing Director, Legal & Regulatory with various matters relating to the Brookfield Board of Directors, as well as the boards of affiliated public and private entities, including preparation of quarterly Board materials and meeting minutes, NCIB, disclosure documents
• Legal and Corporate Compliance - Assist with the management of the Corporation’s intellectual property
Requirements:
• Called to the Bar in Ontario or equivalent in another Canadian jurisdiction or New York
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ post call experience as a lawyer familiar with securities and corporate, preferably gained at a major Toronto/New York law firm and/or at within the in-house legal department of a large publicly traded corporation
