Under the direction and guidance of the C&W Account Team Leader, Manager, Lease Documentation and Client Legal, Lease Documentation Specialists perform duties a commercial leasing law clerk, often requiring advanced knowledge of real estate and commercial leasing matters.
Job Description
Major Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate all lease related documents, including but not limited to, offers to lease, letters of intent, leases, license agreements, lease amending agreement, non-disturbance agreements and preparing documents in execution form for submission to the Client for signature
- Managing estoppel requests, including distribution of internal polling questionnaire, drafting estoppel for signature by the Client, submitting the estoppel for signature by the Client and delivering signed estoppel to the requesting party;
- Provide day to day assistance and advice regarding lease matters to internal C&W contacts, Client Stakeholders and Client’s legal department;
- Follow-up and research leasing and landlord/tenant issues arising from lease agreements and draft appropriate correspondence;
- Participate in special projects as requested by the Client and/or Client’s Legal Department;
- Responsible for tracking and updating status of negotiation and finalization of assigned lease related documents in Document Status Request tracker;
- Register legal documents electronically, across Canada, as required;
- General administrative duties including filing, tasking couriers, scanning documents, submitting documents to Client’s lease administration team through PEGA.
Knowledge and Experience
- 5-10 years of experience working as a real estate law clerk and/or paralegal with experience in negotiating, drafting and interpreting lease related documentation
- Completion of Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Law Clerk Program and/or Paralegal Certification
- In depth understanding of Commercial Leasing and Real Estate Law
- Dependable and highly motivated with the ability to work effectively in a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Well-developed organizational skills allowing the ideal candidate to balance multiple
- Responsibilities and deliverables while ensuring Client satisfaction
- Advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook skills required
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
- Fluency in both oral and written French and English is an asset.
Reports To
- Manager, Lease Documentation
The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $ 76,500.00 - $90,000.00
