What is the opportunity?
In this role, you will be a key member of the Banking & Payments Team with P&L responsibility for the debit cards portfolio. You will need to balance business priorities, client experience as well as risk exposure through effective oversight of product policies and procedures. You will also lead and support strategic initiatives designed to achieve business goals and ensure compliance with internal standards and Interac requirements. Daily responsibilities include managing P&L performance, overseeing client and advisor escalations, and supporting key partnerships, enterprise-wide programs, and Interac mandates.
What will you do?
Act as the SME for debit card, driving innovation, compliance, and customer experience enhancements
Lead strategy development efforts that align to business objectives, create competitive advantage, and deliver tangible outcomes
Lead and execute strategic initiatives that align with business priorities, optimize performance, and deliver measurable revenue impact
Build comprehensive business cases to assess ROI, quantify business impact and enable data-driven strategic decision making
Deliver high-impact executive presentations that translate complex insights into clear actionable recommendations
Conduct research and business development activities to support strategy, product, and policy initiatives—including analytics, business case development, process design, and implementation
Proactively monitor the evolving regulatory environment to ensure products comply with appropriate industry rules, regulations, by-laws and policies, including project oversight and execution
Manage and oversee policies that impact Debit; recommend enhancements and ensure timely review and completion of risk management documentation
Support the maintenance of folios, operating guidelines, training materials, job aids, and marketing collateral—including legal agreements—to ensure they remain current and relevant.
Identify and resolve operational deficiencies, mitigate risks, and effectively manage remediation efforts
Manage alliances and vendor/supplier relationships; assess external reports to align with business objectives
Develop and manage product reporting and dashboards to track performance against business, operational, and financial goals
Monitor and address issues related to performance, product delivery, system/product changes, and marketing programs to maintain awareness of product performance and business impact.
Collaborate with partners to address client escalations promptly and effectively
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
University Degree in Business, Economics or Finance
Demonstrate strong analytical skills to assess data, identify trends and support strategic decision making
Advanced excel skills with scenario building to support data-driven decision making
Strong business casing and financial analysis skills
Proven success in collaborating across complex, matrixed organizations to achieve results
Experienced in designing, developing, and leading complex programs
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a history of driving alignment across diverse teams
Proven go-to-market experience with a track record of successfully launching products and driving revenue growth
Nice to have:
Retail payments product experience, including P&L management
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the payments industry, compliance practices, and legal and regulatory requirements
Strong knowledge of RBC businesses, operations, technology and risk management
