Job Description:
Position: Lead Test & Development Engineer – Terex Ecotec
Location: Campsie/Farlough
Reporting to: Ecotec Engineering Manager
The Lead Test and Development Engineer will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the complete testing process for Terex Ecotec and GreenTec machines to ensure all new products, updates and options meet the highest functional and quality requirements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Cooperate with Design Engineers to develop performance and test criteria for new products and product upgrades
Provide an independent test and proving function able to provide full reporting of Product Performance, issues and failure mode and conformance to legislation / product specification.
Design appropriate testing regimes for New Product Development ensuring common standards across all product groups
Ensure that all information is recorded, documented and stored centrally (i.e. Site Log, Engine Hours, Machine Performance, Site Reports, Test Data, Performance Data, Service History, Issues and Snags etc.)
Identify and appraise possible test locations while ensuring that the prototype objectives / requirements are clearly defined to our dealers and customers in order to maximise test time.
Continually strive to improve of the testing process to deliver better product development times and more in-depth testing
Liaise with suppliers to ensure required audits and signoffs are completed on time.
Manage the ordering of parts for prototypes.
Work with sales to build a suitable portfolio of test sites
Management of a team of test engineers
Flexible in terms of hours worked and travel on short notice when and where is necessary
Experience & Qualifications:
Experience with the development, test and successful launch to market of mobile tracked equipment.
You will have demonstrable Project Management experience including leading project teams
Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering preferred
A good understanding of the various environmental applications
Demonstrable experience of technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems
Knowledge and familiarity with various test equipment and be capable of the instrumentation of a machine to record various machine performance outputs.
Interpret the data acquired from instrumentation, and work with design team leaders to develop corrective actions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong Project Management skills
A person who understands how to drive the prototype process so that Terex delivers a product which exceeds our customers’ demands and expectations while being introduced in a timely manner.
Someone who cultivates a team spirit with the respect of others’ ideas and requirements
Ability to work independently, competently and with a team across the various Terex Materials Processing(MP) sites
Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects at one time
Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines with given resources
Ability to travel when required
Creativity, innovative thinking and excellent problem solving skills.
Good English communication skill, both written and spoken;
