Lead Mobile Engineer – JLL

What this job involves:

The Lead Mobile Engineer is a leadership position responsible for overseeing mobile engineering operations across Mississippi for our AT&T client. This role goes far beyond hands-on technical work—you'll manage a team of mobile engineers, oversee daily operations, and ensure seamless service delivery across multiple locations within a 150-mile territory spanning Jackson, MS to Ocean Springs, MS.

As the Lead Mobile Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all technical operations, team coordination, and emergency response throughout your assigned region. You'll run the show—managing payroll, approving purchases, coordinating schedules, and reviewing every service ticket before dispatch. This position requires strong leadership abilities, administrative expertise, and the commitment to be available 24/7 to support your team and clients.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead and supervise a team of mobile engineers throughout Mississippi by conducting daily check-ins (morning and afternoon), coordinating technician assignments, reviewing and approving every service ticket before dispatch, and providing technical guidance and support to team members in the field
  • Manage administrative and operational functions including payroll approval, timesheet review, ensuring all team members properly check in/check out daily, overseeing purchasing activities (P-card transactions and marketplace orders), and generating reports for senior management
  • Serve as the 24/7 on-call primary contact for all after-hours emergency calls, dispatch appropriate technicians, coordinate emergency response remotely when needed, and make critical decisions regarding service priorities and resource allocation.
  • Travel extensively throughout your territory to conduct site visits, check on team members, perform quality control inspections, and ensure service standards are met across all locations
  • Perform hands-on technical work including preventive maintenance and repair services on HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, building automation, and various commercial building systems
  • Identify and implement operational improvements by spotting energy savings opportunities, handling escalations, resolving complex service issues, and maintaining compliance with JLL standards and client requirements
  • Monitor team performance and drive results by ensuring service quality standards are met, coordinating workload distribution across multiple job sites, and making independent decisions with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC service and repair experience (or 5 years military experience with HVAC systems) with hands-on expertise in commercial HVAC systems, pumps, motors, air handlers, controls, and electrical systems
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams with strong organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to manage payroll, approvals, and purchasing functions
  • Universal CFC or EPA certification (required)
  • Valid state driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Commitment to 24/7 on-call availability (this is NOT rotational—you are the primary contact at all times except during approved PTO)
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, email, in-person) with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple technicians and job sites simultaneously and make independent decisions with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within commercial facilities with a track record of successful team management and development
  • Knowledge of overall MEP/HVAC system design and application with experience identifying energy savings opportunities
  • Background in multi-site operations coordination with previous experience in budget management and financial oversight
  • Experience managing work orders and utilizing CMMS technology
  • Strong English language skills including grammar and composition for report generation and client communication
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work independently with high levels of accountability and comfort handling escalations
