The Boeing CompanyThe Strategic Missiles and Defense Systems (SMDS) finance team has an exciting opportunity in Huntsville, Alabama for a Lead Financial Analyst (Level 5) who will report to the SMDS Chief Financial Officer.
As the Lead Financial Analyst, you will be a key part of our finance organization, responsible for leading the integration and analysis of Estimates at Completion (EACs) across development and production programs. In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with Contracts, Accounts Receivable (AR), Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and Program Management to identify, implement, and drive changes that improve financial performance for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) and Strategic Deterrence Systems (SDS) programs. You will own EAC cadence and compliance, develop executive-ready business cases and presentations, guide SMDS overhead pool initiatives, and lead special financial projects to maximize profitability, cash flow, and program outcomes.
Key Positions Responsibilities
Lead integration and analysis of EACs for sub-division and integrate program/contract-level financial EACs
Develop, coordinate and maintain EAC cadence and compliance; review monthly metrics and coordinate with analysts to identify and resolve red flags
Provide EAC training and mentoring for analysts: explain standards, highlight what to look for, and coach how to “tell the financial story”
Lead integration of variance analyses and translate financial and operational variances into clear recommendations and projections for senior management
Prepare and consult on development of cost and schedule performance measurement baselines, including Earned Value (EV) techniques and variance analyses
Lead, analyze and present business cases using appropriate indices (e.g., Return on Investment (ROI), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), cost benefit) to maximize profitability and shareholder value
Collaborate with Contracts, AR, FP&A and Finance on working capital topics (unbillable, lagging receivables, etc.) to optimize cash flow and contract performance
Lead initiatives for SMDS overhead pools: identify required actions, guide pool owners on indirect spending affordability and manage unallowable budget items
Implement simple cost management approaches to support timely baselining by integrating with analysts and enabling Control Account Managers (CAMs) through self-service/Center of Excellence (COE) models
Support executive-level reviews by preparing overviews, charts and executive-ready presentations that summarize financial/operational performance and projections
Lead special financial projects for programs on a surge basis to drive measurable business results; act as a trusted advisor on complex financial decisions
Consult on requirements definition and deployment of common systems, tools, processes, and training to improve resource and business planning processes and enable consistent, scalable practices
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
5+ years of experience in a Finance related position such as Financial Operations, Cost Management, Estimating, Financial Planning, Contracts or Procurement Financial Analysis (PFA)
5+ years of experience leading the integration and analysis of resource forecasting and/or Estimates at Completion (EACs) for control accounts, budgets, financial statements forecasts and/or financial EACs for contracts
5+ years of experience developing presentations for and presenting to executive leadership
5+ years of experience leading a team or project
Proven analytical rigor in formulating strategies, objectives and measuring results
Willing and able to travel up to 25% domestically
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Finance or Economics
3+ years of experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and analysis
Experience working with contracts, AR, FP&A, indirect pools, and working capital management is highly desirable
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
Strong technical proficiency with financial systems, forecasting tools, and spreadsheet modeling
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex analyses into concise, executive-level recommendations
Experience in business-case development and use of financial indices (ROI, NPV, IRR)
Familiarity with government and commercial contract finance practices
Stakeholder management and change leadership for process or tool deployment
Proficiency creating executive presentations and visualizations
Attention to detail with strong analytical rigor and business judgment
