Position Overview

The Lead Emergency Services Officer provides shift‑level leadership to ensure continuous post coverage, operational consistency, and high‑quality performance across all security functions. This role acts as the primary liaison between Emergency Services Officers and Security Management, supporting a collaborative One Team culture. Responsibilities include leading incident response, maintaining situational awareness, enforcing standards, and promoting safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties required of Emergency Services Officer I and II with demonstrated mastery.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to major incidents, emergencies, and elevated‑risk situations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external emergency services, including EMS, fire, and law enforcement.
  • Willingness and ability to provide relief coverage for breaks, callouts, and temporary staffing gaps.
  • Maintain campus‑wide situational awareness and proactively identify and address emerging risks.
  • Complete accurate and professional incident reports, shift summaries, and documentation.
  • Deliver real‑time coaching to team members to reinforce standards, performance, and teamwork.
  • Communicate staffing needs, shift conditions, and operational concerns to Security Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Meets all qualifications for Emergency Services Officer I and II.
  • Current SLED certification (renewed annually).
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Current EMR, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively across all posts and shifts.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and/or obtain the ability to operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklift, golf carts).
  • Strong communication skills and leadership presence, with proven reliability and initiative.
  • Completion of all assigned and required training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain alert, composed, and responsive in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and maintain physical exertion for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform team lifts for loads exceeding 50 lbs. per safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to perform effective CPR compressions (2 inches deep at 100–120/min) for multiple cycles.
  • Ability to repeatedly use upper‑body strength as required.
  • Ability to move, lift, or position individuals or equipment as operationally required.
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly during emergencies.

Internal Eligibility Requirements

  • No active final warnings.
  • No more than 6 attendance points.
  • Meets efficiency and quality goals for the previous 3 months.
  • At least 6 months in current role.
  • Meets all job description requirements.
