We are seeking an ambitious and driven junior qualified lawyer to join our dynamic in-house Group Legal team at QBE. This role is ideal for someone with proven technology and commercial experience in the insurance industry who is looking to continue their career in technology and commercial law within a global organisation.

Your new role

In the Group Legal Technology & Commercial team, you will assist a team of lawyers to provide high-quality legal support to QBE Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified lawyer with direct in-house technology and commercial legal experience to deepen expertise in technology and commercial matters for an insurance group in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver legal advice and support on matters relating to commercial law, privacy, technology, and AI, under the guidance of senior counsel.

  • Draft and review legal documents, including confidentiality agreements and  service contracts.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on commercial law, privacy, artificial intelligence and technology and analysing legal issues and recommending appropriate solutions under the guidance and direction of counsel.

  • Assisting lawyers with workflow management and delivery of legal advice.

  • Maintain legal files, systems, and governance documentation.

  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation and internal policies.

About you

  • Qualified lawyer (admitted to practice in Australia or equivalent jurisdiction).

  • Demonstrated in-house experience in insurance industry with a strong understanding of technology and commercial law.

  • Knowledge of legal principles and compliance requirements in the insurance industry.

  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and research skills.

  • Tech-savvy with familiarity in legal systems and tools.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and ability to work collaboratively.
