About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Apfeld Lab in the Biology Department at Northeastern University is seeking a technician to
investigate how genes work together to determine the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans. Our lab
integrates genetics, live imaging, quantitative analysis, and computational approaches to uncover
the molecular mechanisms regulating aging and longevity.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
The lab technician will contribute to ongoing research projects exploring genetic interactions that
influence lifespan, generate transgenic nematodes, perform lifespan assays, and assist in data
analysis and publication of findings. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory
operations, preparing stock solutions and media, and mentoring undergraduate students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-Recent or upcoming bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics/Genomics,
Neurobiology/Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Microbiology.
-Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
-Experience in molecular biology and with C. elegans genetics
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Attention to detail and training in research methodology and quantitative data analysis.
