Role purpose
Aesop are seeking an experienced Junior Development Chemist in a full-time role operating from our Collingwood office.
Reporting to the Development Lead, you will assist with the formulation development and testing stages of all new and reformulated Aesop products, ensuring that the stage-gate process is followed and documented to company standards and that all formulations are compliant with intended markets and Aesop company guidelines.
Role responsibilities include, but not limited to –
Assist in maintaining and enhancing existing protocol within the day to day operations and administration of the Aesop Laboratory.
Prepare cosmetic samples in the laboratory and set them up on all necessary testing.
Track the stability testing of samples prepared as part of formula development
Work internally to pack and dispatch sample for external testing and/or registration.
Ensure all results are assessed, recorded and reported, in accordance with company standards.
Maintain R&D Database relating to raw material, formulation, and product development and testing records.
Assess and test new ingredients as required, ensuring they are suitable for Aesop products.
Ensure the stability, preservative efficacy and analytical testing for all product development projects are conducted according to company standards.

Experience within a similar industry and skillset
Proven ability to conduct hands-on laboratory work
Strong time management and highly organised with a strong attention to detail
Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment
Mostly, a desire and curiosity to learn and grow.
