We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join us as Senior Field Director, Medical Science Liaisons, Northeast. This role will build, develop, and lead a high performing regional MSL team setting clear expectations and standards of excellence while preparing the team to execute in a rapidly evolving Medical Affairs landscape across current and future portfolio indications. The Field Director will lead a team of field‑based Medical Science Liaisons who serve as the scientific face of Kite, driving impactful, compliant scientific exchange with key thought leaders and healthcare professionals across academic and community practices, and advancing understanding of disease states, Kite’s therapies, and innovative scientific platforms.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Scientific Leadership
Work closely with the national head of the MSL organization to provide strategic and operational support for executing the ongoing MSL activities and plan of action (POA).
Interpret and translate national strategies and POA into regional POA, and clearly communicate the national, regional, and territory plans, targets, and POA; define, clarify, and develop the regional team priorities.
Ensure development and implementation of engagement strategy with thought leaders (TLs) and other health care providers in academic and community practices in their territory/region.
Lead account planning, execution, and cross‑functional alignment for high priority accounts
Coordinate within Medical Affairs to appropriately deploy MSLs in the region to respond to unsolicited requests while managing regional capacity.
Represent the MSL function on US Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams, as requested.
Ensure that all interactions and activities in the region adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance guidance, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical/scientific information.
Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in relevant hematology/oncology disease states and therapeutic areas
Insight Synthesis and Storytelling
Partner closely with medical strategy leads and insights analytics team to identify meaningful patterns of insights and clearly communicate implications and actions to internal stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Influence
Represent the company and Medical Affairs during exchanges with the medical/scientific community and with internal cross-functional colleagues in business reviews.
People Leadership and Coaching Culture
Set clear expectations and high-performance standards, providing actionable guidance that motivates teams and individuals to deliver measurable, impactful results.
Provide an environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, in alignment with the company’s corporate strategies and goals.
Manage and professionally develop MSLs within the region including hiring, field training, evaluation, and coaching and mentoring team members, including field analytics and observation of team members, and corrective guidance, as needed.
Foster growth, provide supportive feedback, and prioritize induvial development plans (IDPs).
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate and 12+ years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical or healthcare field
OR
Master’s and 12+ years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical or healthcare field
OR
Bachelor’s and 14+ years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical or healthcare field
OR
Associate and 16+ years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical or healthcare field
OR
High School Diploma/GED and 18+ years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical or healthcare field
Preferred Qualifications
Reside within the Northeast Region (ME, NH, VT, MA, PA, NY, NJ, MD, DC, DE, VA)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an MSL, Medical Affairs, and/or supervisory role within the pharmaceutical industry
Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to set clear direction, prioritise effectively, and drive results
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to develop and deliver high-quality scientific content
Scientific expertise in Haematology/Oncology, Cellular Therapy, and Bone Marrow Transplantation, with relevant clinical experience
Ability to effectively liaise between field teams, Executive Director, and headquarters
Proven ability to work cross functionally with Global Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Marketing, and Clinical Development
Strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, including PhRMA and geographic compliance guidelines
Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to engage internal partners, medical thought leaders, and healthcare professionals
Strong project management, organisational, and time‑management skills; adaptable and forward-thinking with enterprise mindset
Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate scientific and regional insights into organizational value
Growing expertise in hospital and community Haematology/Oncology landscapes, including payer, access, and site‑of‑care dynamics
Growing capability in the use of digital, analytical, and AI‑enabled tools
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Willingness to travel within the US up to 60%, occasionally with short notice
