Job Summary: About the Position: Serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administrator) at the Vicenza Health Center within the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Provides technical support, implementation expertise, and system administration for multiple information systems in both LAN and WAN environments. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major Duties:

  • Administers multiple information systems running Microsoft Windows operating systems and server platforms
  • Ensures functionality, integrity, and efficiency of all server operating systems, distributed applications, and electronic messaging systems
  • Maintains system configurations, installs and integrates system patches, updates, and enhancements, and documents all system baselines and modifications to production systems
  • Applies information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices rigorously to protect system integrity
  • Reviews, tests, analyzes, and selects new or proposed software packages and recommends applications for installation
  • Coordinates installation of new equipment and movement or reinstallation of existing equipment.
  • Manages engineering projects for voice over Internet Protocol initiatives, plans technology roadmaps, and configures and optimizes VoIP and private branch exchange telephone systems and services

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Services in providing technical support, implementation expertise, and system administration for multiple information systems in both LAN and WAN environments; performing a full range of systems administration duties to include installation, configuration, testing, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems; account and access management; system security and information assurance; workstation and application support; and specialized administration of VoIP/IP telephone and telework solutions. OR Substitution of education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeor3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
