IT Financial Analyst

Position Overview:

The IT Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the IT department’s financial transparency. This position is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing financial data to provide actionable insights that drive budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making across the IT organization. You'll build and maintain complex analytical reports, develop executive-level presentations with variance analysis and trend identification, and partner with stakeholders throughout the Credit Union to deliver the financial insights that inform critical business decisions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • (25%) Expense Monitoring & Controls: Track actual spend against budget and forecast, provide financial approval for contract purchases through procurement tools for accounting coding accuracy.
  • (25%) Budgeting & Forecasting: Support monthly and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, including variance analysis, identifying drivers and risk areas, and maintaining detailed forecasts.
  • (25%) Financial Reporting & Executive Insights: Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting packages to the IT leadership teams and finance, including dashboards, trend analysis, and commentary.
  • (25 %) Financial systems & tools: Maintain financial models and dashboards through PowerBI and Excel to track financials and ensure accuracy and integrity.

Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics or related field required
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A,

or related field required; 5 years preferred.

  • Required Skills:
    • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with experience in forecasting, budgeting and the ability to interpret financial data and trends related to IT expenses.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, accounting systems).
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in IT Expense Management, IT related financial planning, Project Financials or FP&A.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with IT related expenses including software licenses & subscriptions, hardware and maintenance.
    • Experience maintaining complex financial datasets, ensuring data integrity and leveraging data f or forecasting and budget analysis.
    • Familiar with Workday Adaptive Planning, Procurement P2P modules and Helix/Remedy ticketing systems.
    • Advanced Excel capabilities, including Power Query and complex formula development.

Job Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Hybrid expectations: In-Office at least twice a week
