Department Description
ISS Data Engineering Chapter is an engineering group comprised of three sub-chapters - Data Engineers, Data Platform and Data Visualisation – that supports the ISS Department.
Fidelity is embarking on several strategic programmes of work that will create a data platform to support the next evolutionary stage of our Investment Process. These programmes span across asset classes and include Portfolio and Risk Management, Fundamental and Quantitative Research and Trading.
Purpose of your role
This role sits within the ISS Data Visualisation Team. The Data Visualisation team for designing, building, and maintaining analytics and visualisation solutions that enable ISS business users to gain actionable insights from data.
This role is appropriate for a Principal Data Visualization Engineer who can take end-to-end ownership of analytics solutions, lead design and implementation, and ensure solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards.
The role requires strong technical leadership, modern cloud-based and AI driven analytics expertise, and the ability to mentor and guide other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data visualisation and analytics solutions.
Own end-to-end delivery of enterprise dashboards and analytics products using modern BI and analytics solutions with AI enablement.
Define and enforce best practices, standards, and governance for data visualisation, semantic models, and analytics layers.
Collaborate closely with data engineers, platform teams, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust analytics solutions.
Drive adoption of cloud-native analytics and modern visualisation techniques to improve insight delivery and user experience.
Ensure analytics solutions are optimized for scale, efficiency, cost, and security, including access control and regulatory compliance.
Champion innovation by exploring emerging capabilities such as AI-assisted analytics, augmented insights, and advanced visualization capabilities.
Challenge the status quo by continuously improving tooling, development processes, and delivery models within the Data Visualisation chapter.
Essential Skills and Experience
Core Technical Skills
Expert experience designing and delivering enterprise analytics and visualisation solutions using modern BI platforms (e.g., Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), AI Generated Visualisation, Semantic Layer Driven Visualization or equivalent).
Expert experience using Python and SQL for data analysis, automation, analytics enablement, and integration with visualisation platforms.
Expert experience leveraging AI/ML-powered analytics, such as augmented analytics, natural language querying, or predictive insights.
Expertise in designing and managing semantic layers, metrics definitions, and reusable analytics models.
Advanced knowledge of AWS Cloud concepts and services relevant to analytics and data consumption.
Strong experience working with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Snowflake, and integrating them with analytics and visualisation layers.
Strong understanding and experience of data governance, security, and access control in analytics platforms, including row-level and object-level security.
Experience delivering analytics solutions that support large-scale user adoption with high performance and availability.
Experience integrating multiple data sources, including cloud data warehouses, data Lakehouse, APIs, and enterprise systems.
Strong experience with CI/CD practices for analytics and reporting artefacts, including version control and automated deployment.
Experience using both RDBMS (Oracle, Postgres, MSSQL) and NOSQL (Dynamo, OpenSearch, Redis) offerings.
Experience using orchestration tools (Airflow, Control-M, etc.) in solution design and implementation.
Bonus technical Skills:
Exposure to other visualisation tools (e.g., Superset) to fit enterprise environments.
Experience to leverage AI for automating visualisation solution implementation and deployment in fast-pace.
Experience with data quality monitoring and observability for analytics consumption layers.
