Job Description

Teledyne Technologies is a global leader in advanced technology solutions, serving aerospace, defense, industrial, and scientific markets. With over 70 autonomous businesses worldwide, each with unique priorities and customers, success depends on collaboration across teams and functions. AI adoption is not a one-size-fits-all effort—it requires adaptability, influence, and the ability to connect and co-create with leaders who have different goals and challenges.

As part of Teledyne’s AI Transformation Office, you will join a team of AI Adoption Leads, each specializing in a specific area of AI. Together, you will act as internal consultants, helping business units understand AI’s potential and implement solutions that deliver real impact. This is a role for someone who combines deep technical knowledge with strong interpersonal and selling skills—you’ll need to build trust, inspire change, and make AI happen in the business, not just track metrics.

The Software AI SME leads enterprise adoption of GitHub Copilot and developer AI tools by building prototypes, reusable code assets, and automation solutions, while mentoring both developers and non-coders. This role is responsible for selecting, governing, and establishing secure usage policies for AI development tools, and creating comprehensive training programs, best-practice guides, and curated code pattern libraries to enable engineering teams. They drive the identification and measurement of high-impact pilot projects and facilitate collaboration across software, IT, and AI groups. Additionally, they align all initiatives with executive priorities and governance, foster communities of practice, and serve as a bridge between technical stakeholders to ensure responsible, impactful, and scalable AI integration within enterprise systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead enterprise rollout of GitHub Copilot and developer AI tools, establishing enablement plans, guardrails, and comprehensive rollout playbooks.
Create and maintain a reusable code pattern library (including unit tests, security checks, licensing notes), and curate prompt packs tailored by language/framework for code generation, test creation, and debugging.

Define, publish, and enforce secure coding best practices and learning artifacts for AI‑assisted code generation, refactoring, and testing, in coordination with AI Governance/ITSS to uphold security, privacy, and responsible AI policies.

Facilitate hands‑on labs, bootcamps, office hours, and enable cross-functional mentoring to uplift both beginner and expert cohorts, including non-coders through low-code tooling and safe prompts.

Stand up communities of practice, internal demo repositories, and host show-and-tell sessions to share proven patterns and spread adoption. Identify and implement automation opportunities for consistent outputs, including code documentation, changelogs, release notes, and API stubs.

Qualifications & Experience

Strong programming in Python/Java; fluency in modern frameworks ecosystems.

Experience with LangChain/Hugging Face and comparable model orchestration toolsets.

Hands‑on MLOps/ModelOps (evaluation, governance, CI/CD for AI components).

Cloud expertise (Azure/AWS) and secure API integration (authN/Z, secrets management).

Demonstrated success activating GitHub Copilot (or equivalent) at scale with governance.

Experience defining guardrails for licensing/IP when using AI‑generated code.

Proven ability to mentor engineers and facilitate communities of practice.

Ability to instrument metrics (defect density, rework, cycle time) and tie to ROI.

Comfortable with prompt engineering for developer tasks and reproducible outcomes.

Experience with low‑code enablement for non‑coders (Power Platform or similar).

Knowledge of data privacy/compliance related to code and repositories.

Competence in testing automation and test data generation augmented by AI.

Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS/SE or equivalent experience; continuous upskilling.
