The Investment Services Business Risk Management (IS BRM) team is seeking an experienced Risk Advisor, Vice President to support the Asia Pacific Investment Services business, with a strong focus on client‑facing and product development risk management.
Successful candidate will have experience overseeing risk management in a financial services organization, will be skilled in sound risk management and governance practices, and have firsthand experience working in highly regulated environments.
The role will partner across stakeholder groups to enhance risk, control, and operational management capabilities, improve the efficacy of the control environment, and better respond to regulatory guidance/ mandates through the implementation of uniform governance and risk management practices.

This role helps the business strike the right balance between fit for purpose risk management and IS business objectives and priorities, while maintaining strong alignment with enterprise risk frameworks and governance expectations.
What you will be responsible for
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a senior, trusted first‑line risk advisor to APAC Investment Services leadership; provide independent challenge and forward‑looking risk insight to support strategic and client decisions
- Oversee regulatory risks across a large portfolio of APAC jurisdictions
- Partner with lines of defense and enterprise-wide business risk teams to execute thematic control assessments using business knowledge to make sure that IS control environment is commensurate with the risk being mitigated
- Lead and facilitate risk discussions across governance forums and executive engagements; ensure consistent risk communication and alignment across APAC.
- Review, challenge, and refine risk reporting, KRIs, emerging risks, and breach/ limit escalation materials produced by central teams; ensure timely escalation of material risks and unacceptable residual risk.
- Lead execution of RCSA workshops including assessment of risk ratings, and control effectiveness assessments; advise on control design and remediation strategies for identified gaps.
- Act as an escalation point for significant control testing exceptions and control weaknesses; facilitate root‑cause analysis and thematic reviews for incidents, audit findings, and control failures.
- Provide proactive risk input into strategic initiatives, new products, client arrangements, and complex transactions; document material risk advisory opinions to ensure traceability of key decisions.
- Partner with change and transformation programs to identify risks early and embed risk considerations into design, implementation, and go‑live decisions; support post‑implementation reviews to confirm expected controls and monitoring are effective.
- Support incident and issues response and remediation management; challenge the quality and sustainability of corrective actions; advise and represent the business in audits, regulatory exams, and client reviews
- Build strong partnerships within business risk management and second/ third‑line teams to reinforce the three‑lines‑of‑defense model; contribute to targeted risk awareness and training; support credible risk communications with internal and external stakeholders (including clients and regulators).

- Strong experience in first‑line risk management within financial services, ideally including client‑facing, product development and fiduciary/Depositary activities
- Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and provide effective challenge to senior stakeholders
- Deep understanding of risk governance, control frameworks, and various APAC regulatory expectations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complexity into clear, decision‑useful insight
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholders and geographies
- Demonstrated ability to balance risk management rigor with commercial and client considerations
- Keen awareness and appreciation for teamwork and collaboration
Education & preferred qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in risk, compliance and/or audit functions within the financial industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, risk management, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of client‑facing operational risk, product development and APAC regulatory frameworks
