Investment Officer I

Albany, New York Full time
Pay Range: $73,536.00 - $98,010.00

Responsible for administering trust accounts and meeting with customers to provide periodic account reviews. Constructs portfolios from cash and adjusts holdings of new portfolios to comply with departmental guidelines with regard to asset allocation, sector weightings and security composition in accordance with account investment objectives. Monitors portfolios of accounts and makes adjustments as needed. Prepares investment proposals for a new business accounts and maintains a clear understanding of their objectives while making recommendations. Understands and stays updated of the current investment climate while ensuring that customers and Trust Division Officers are kept will informed. Reviews accounts annually to warrant that all are managed in accordance with the objectives of the account. Serves as a member of the Trust Investment Committee.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Finance , or equivalent education and experience
  • 2 Years experience in managing investment accounts
  • Courses in economics and finance helpful

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to absorb information and reach conclusions about appropriate actions
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with individual clients and organization committees
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and present sales proposals
  • Knowledge of investment markets, portfolio management, securities trading and trust industry

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

Anticipate that person in this position would be working toward or have attained Accredited Fiduciary Investment Manager (AFIM) or similar designation.

Tasks Performed:

  • 65% Administer trust accounts and meet with customers to update investment performance. Conduct portfolio management on all assigned accounts.
  • 10% Monitor the current investment climate and keep both customers and Trust Division Officers informed of any relevant changes. Cooperates as a team player when interacting with departmental, divisional and company peers.
  • 5% Assist in monitoring the organization’s investment portfolio, Prepare month end reports as required.
  • 5% Execute securities trades and customer securities transactions.
  • 5% Prepare investment proposals for prospective clients. Meets with new business customers to ascertain investment objectives and makes recommendations.
  • 5% Review all trust accounts annually to ensure accounts are being managed correctly and in accordance with the objectives of the account.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.
