The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for managing, controlling, and directing all inventory control activities for Receiving and Rackside Material Kitting operations. This role oversees 24/7 dock receiving performance, material flow coordination, stock level monitoring, SAP transaction accuracy, and kitting delivery to production lines. The Supervisor ensures process adherence across all shifts, drives continuous improvement using Lean tools, and leads the design and implementation of new processes and standardized work. This role provides exceptional support to internal customers, team members, and shareholders while ensuring operational accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
Recruit, interview, and hire Inventory Control, Stockroom, Prep, and Shipping Supervisors.
Communicate selection criteria for all Receiving and Rackside Kitting staff.
Coach Inventory Control leaders on effective interviewing and hiring practices.
Monitor turnover, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
Create, validate, and maintain training curricula for Receiving and Rackside Kitting processes.
Coach and mentor team members to deliver excellent service to internal and external customers.
Build and maintain succession plans for key roles.
Establish measurable goals and operational KPIs (e.g., dock-to-stock time, SAP accuracy, kitting timeliness, 5S audits).
Gather feedback from leadership, peers, and team members to support performance coaching.
Conduct performance evaluations professionally and on time.
Drive teams to improve operational metrics and organizational goals.
Maintain focus and alignment during high-volume or crisis situations.
Ensure recognition programs are applied consistently.
Provide weekly communication forums for all shifts.
Present verbal and written information in a clear, organized business style.
Encourage open dialogue, questions, and process feedback.
Adapt communication style to individuals and diverse teams.
Understand and support campus strategic direction.
Define and implement an Inventory Control strategy supporting receiving flow, SAP accuracy, and kitting efficiency.
Develop deep understanding of workcell needs and production demand requirements.
Provide regular operational updates to leadership.
Identify opportunities to reduce cost through Lean process improvements, waste elimination, and workflow optimization.
Monitor departmental cost trends and continually seek efficiency improvements.
Provide cost-related insights across functional departments.
Prepare timely forecasting for staffing, volume expectations, and material flow for 24/7 operations.
Compare forecast results to historical performance to identify trends and improve planning accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement through Lean tools, trend analysis, and KPI management.
Ensure receiving teams follow correct processes and documentation across all 4 shifts.
Ensure rackside kitting teams monitor stock levels and deliver materials to production accurately and on time.
Lead process creation: develop, document, and deploy new SOPs and standard work for receiving, kitting, and material flow.
Ensure SAP accuracy for all receipts, putaways, transfers, and rackside movements.
Ensure 5S and workplace organization are maintained in receiving and kitting areas.
Validate the effectiveness of data collection and reporting methods.
Lead physical inventories and cycle counts as needed.
Identify, share, and implement best practices from internal and external sources.
Maintain full adherence to company policies including safety, quality, and security.
Respond to customer or audit inquiries professionally.
Solve complex operational problems with limited standardization.
Interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based work instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strong knowledge of Lean principles such as 5S, standard work, waste elimination, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Strong logistics coordination experience, including dock receiving, inventory transfers, and material delivery to production.
Demonstrated expertise in creating, documenting, training, and implementing new processes and SOPs.
SAP experience required (goods receipt, inventory transfers, stock management, troubleshooting, reporting).
Ability to interpret technical journals, financial data, and operational reports.
Ability to respond to customer or regulatory inquiries at a professional level.
Proficiency in mathematics including percentages, proportions, and basic algebra.
Strong understanding of inventory control, warehouse operations, and material flow.
Experience developing and executing logistics strategies.
Strong financial and analytical abilities for evaluating operational data.
Proven success in change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/WMS tools.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in inventory control, receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
SAP or ERP systems experience required.
Demonstrated experience with Lean methodologies and process improvement.
