The Investment Operations team is responsible for managing data and investment operations activities, executing and optimizing the processes and solutions that support and enable investment activities. Additionally, they oversee a committee that presents, discusses, and approves business and technological changes related to Operational Chain activities and processes.
The team ensures that operations are accurate, efficient, compliant, and aligned with PSP's overall investment strategy. Their activities include:
Cash administration and settlement
Collateral, security financing, and market events
Derivatives administration and settlement
Public markets integration and servicing
Data quality management
As an Intern, Public Markets Operations, you’ll:
Support the maintenance and enhancement of Public Markets Operations processes by assisting in the investigation, debugging, and resolution of operational issues to ensure the accurate and timely flow of securities lending trades through internal booking and settlement systems
Assist with the daily reconciliation of securities lending positions, identifying and escalating discrepancies as needed
Monitor the settlement status of securities lending and borrowing transactions, and coordinate with internal teams, custodians, and counterparties to resolve settlement exceptions
Perform operational checks and data validations to support the accuracy of positions, exposures, and reporting related to securities lending activity
Contribute to the documentation of processes, controls, and operational procedures, helping to improve transparency and consistency across the team
Collaborate with analysts and key stakeholders across Operations, Technology, and Front Office teams, sharing ideas and supporting continuous process improvement while adhering to established standards and best practices
Participate in ad‑hoc analysis and operational projects related to securities lending, collateral management, and market events as required
Currently completing a bachelor’s degree or enrolled in finance, or equivalent
Good experience and knowledge of MS Office Suite and SQL
Experience in the financial investment industry and knowledge of public markets investments is an asset
Customer focused and results-driven mindset
Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to change
Must return to studies after the internship or the internship must be part of your curriculum
Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
