Job Description

Overview:

As a member of the Interior Design team and reporting to the Interior Design Lead, the Interior Designer is responsible for supporting homeowners through the design selection process, managing schedules, and ensuring accurate documentation. Ideal candidates should have over 2 years of residential construction experience and possess a relevant Interior Design degree. The Interior Designer is also responsible for the creation and execution of the vision for Alberta Homes’ showhomes from concept, selections to merchandizing. This includes coordination of the showhome process through internal departments and external consultants, vendors and suppliers. In addition, collaboration with the Interior Design Lead with the maintenance of the furniture and accessories inventory for Alberta Homes.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Collaborating with the Interior Design Team and Product Development supporting showhome concept and direction from style to selections to merchandizing

  • Selection, purchase and inventory management of all showhome and furniture and accessories including use, cataloguing and storage and sale/donation

  • Support the management and coordination of showhome timelines, including major milestones requiring walkthroughs and or site meetings, stakeholder approvals and presentations, internal and external relationships and dependencies

  • Support the reporting of showhome budget and related purchase orders and invoices

  • Administration and coordination of showhome modifications and quality control 40

  • Staging and merchandizing of all feature homes through coordination of third party vendors, or coordination of external vendors to complete merchandising as required.

  • Documentation of Newstar options for all UPG products and selections.

  • Develop strong knowledge base in current interior design trends and customer needs

  • Provide prompt response to all communication requesting information or resolving field issues

Relationship Management:

  • Nurture and maintain collaborative and successful relationships with third party interior designers, merchandizers, art providers, trades, suppliers and vendors with the purpose of ensuring our showhomes are of the highest quality and trend setting

  • Represent the Brookfield Residential brand and culture in a positive manner at all times 10

Interior Design:

  • Support spec and pre-sale selections as required

  • Walk customer homes for installation guidelines and note potential product/installation concerns

  • Represent the Brookfield Residential brand and culture in a positive manner at all times

  • Liaison with Estimating for accuracy and timing of pricing requests

  • Attend product knowledge sessions with our Trade Partners

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in residential interior design

  • Post-secondary education; specifically an Interior Design Degree/Diploma will be considered an asset

  • Extensive product knowledge in latest design trends

  • Strong understanding of residential construction

  • Drafting, drawing skills including AutoCad considered an asset

  • Strong Computer/Microsoft Office Skills

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with great communication skills

  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationship with team, trade partners, and customers
