We make health happen!

At Bupa, we’re here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives. It shapes every decision we make – and it’s the reason people across the world trust us with their health and wellbeing.

Our Group Legal function plays a key role in supporting this purpose. We help our teams make informed decisions about risk so they can keep delivering great experiences for our customers.

As our Insurance Manager, you’ll be part of the team that designs and runs Bupa’s Group-wide insurance programmes. The work you do will help us manage our insurable risks with confidence, protect our people and customers and make sure we’re getting real value from our cover. You’ll work closely with our insurance brokers, insurers and internal teams, building trusted relationships and supporting our risk transfer strategy across the business.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow their career as an in‑house insurance professional, develop deep expertise and help shape how we manage risk at a global scale.

How you'll help us make health happen:

  • Be a central point of contact for insurance-related questions from teams across Bupa, helping them get the information they need quickly and clearly.

  • Support our claims handling process by working with internal colleagues and external claims handlers, including gathering information for defence or settlement.

  • Interacting with our Insurance Broker and being a point of contact for external partners.

  • Help deliver our annual insurance renewal programme by collecting key data, supporting broker and insurer queries, and preparing reports for the insurance market.

  • Keep our insurance management information system up to date with exposure and policy information.

  • Support the department in preparing and improving procedures, keeping documents accurate, clear and useful.

  • Build strong working relationships with brokers, insurers, legal advisors, loss adjusters and risk consultants, helping us make sure service levels stay on track.

  • Organise meetings, diaries and actions as part of the team’s internal engagement plan.

  • Work with Claims Managers when needed to support the insured claims process.

What we’re looking for:

  • Confident using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and general digital tools.

  • Have strong communication skills — written, verbal and interpersonal — and feel comfortable explaining information clearly to different people.

  • Can prioritise well, stay organised and work well under pressure when deadlines are tight.

  • Have good literacy, numeracy and an eye for detail.

  • Enjoy solving problems and looking for better ways of doing things.

  • Have an interest in insurance or risk management and are keen to build your expertise as an in-house insurance professional.

  • Have experience in insurance claims or risk management (in-house or with a broker, insurer, claims handler or law firm).

  • ACII (Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) or an alternative in IRM (Institute of Risk Management) is required.

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (grades 4–9).

Benefits:

Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people. Viva is our global wellbeing programme covering all aspects of health — mental, physical, financial, social and environmental. We support flexible working and offer a range of family‑friendly benefits.

Joining Bupa in this role you’ll receive these benefits and more:

  • 25 days holiday per year.

  • Access to a wide range of services to support your physical and mental wellbeing.

  • Workplace pension

  • Online discounts covering your everyday shopping, entertainment, eating out, and more.
