Job Summary:

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, varying hours

Performs various duties related to surgical instruments. Purchasing, set assembly, set assignment, par levels, set maintenance, maintaining instrument tracking system, coordinating in-services, consignment inventory, loaner set process (checking sets in and out), and instrument set quality checks.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Performs the duties of instrument maintenance, repair or replacement.

Assist with instrument vendor selection for quality and price.

Builds sets for all services. Reduces set inventory as necessary.

Purchases instruments and assigns instruments to sets and to selected services.

Establishes par levels for back stock instruments.

Maintains instrument par levels to the established levels.

Maintains the instrument tracking system.

Coordinates in-services on instrument care/handling.

Coordinates all loaner sets.

Maintains set consignment inventory.

Conducts quality checks on instrument sets.

Processes instrument sets.

Schedule:

Job Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.


Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in a surgical environment such as an operating room required.


License/Certifications

  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Requires knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
  • Able to interpret Instructions For Use (IFU).
  • Understanding of instrument sterilization.
  • Able to use computer programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and instrument tracking program.
