Instructor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is currently seeking applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time Instructor of Chemistry and Biochemistry. This position begins August 16, 2026 and includes teaching and service commitments over the 9-month academic year (August 16 – May 15). The appointment is for one academic year.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Some of these courses serve LMU’s Core Curriculum (https://academics.lmu.edu/corecurriculum/). The candidate may also teach upper division electives within the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates will help with the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department’s assessment, curriculum updates, and may be asked to represent the department on relevant College or University committees.

Successful candidates must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry and Biochemistry, or a closely related field, before the appointment commences. They must be committed to excellence in teaching our diverse student population and to work to promote equitable and inclusive classrooms and collaboration spaces.
