The Office of Risk Management (“O.R.M”) supports the implementation of programs, policies, and practices to manage RSM US (or “Firm”) risk. Individuals in the Independence Senior Associate 2 role will assist with managing risk by supporting multiple teams within RSM’s Office of Risk Management, working in the Firm’s independence systems (entity management system (“EMS”), personal independence tool, and services assessment tool). The Independence Senior Associate 2 will support these various functions as seasonal volumes fluctuate and will gain visibility into the key operational activities of the Risk Management function. Responsibilities will include processing updates to the entity management system, researching internal databases, summarizing research findings, delivering summary reports to engagement teams and leadership, supporting independence search procedures, and other responsibilities as required. The Independence Senior Associate 2 will also provide procedural support to engagement teams navigating the Firm's independence and conflict check requirements.
Essential Duties
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) or other business degree
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
Comprehending rules, regulations, policies, and procedures (required)
Facilitating coaching of stakeholders of all levels on complex regulatory matters
Awareness of different independence rulesets, including SEC, PCAOB and AICPA (required)
Awareness of interrelated policies, processes, and personnel (required)
Communicating information clearly and concisely, in writing to diverse audiences across the firm and to outside professional contacts (required)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion (required)
Demonstrating expert conflict resolution skills (required)
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including familiarity with SharePoint as a document repository (required)
Ability to identify and recommend process improvement and efficiency (required)
Ability to develop and maintain applicable professional and internal contacts, resources and networks (preferred)
Providing status reporting and frequent check-ins with management
EXPERIENCE
5+ years’ experience in public accounting (required)
Exposure to independence considerations in professional practice (required)
3+ years’ experience coaching, leading, and monitoring a team in a highly standardized, process-driven environment (required)
3+ years’ experience with an accounting firm’s entity management system (required), preferably at a Big Four accounting firm (preferred)
Working with teams internationally (required)
