HVAC Preventative Maintenance Technician

About This Role

  • Conduct visual and auditory inspections of equipment to assess function, including contactor pitting inspections, ampere monitoring, voltage inspections, equipment and bearing temperature inspections, pulley inspections, etc.

  • Perform standard preventive maintenance tasks of various pieces of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s standards, including filter changes, lubrication of bearings and related, and inspecting/tightening electrical connections

  • Complete minor equipment adjustments and repairs, including belt replacement/adjustment, alignment and set screw adjustment, chilled water and heating coil cleaning, evaporator and condensing coil cleaning on equipment, maintain and treat condensate pans

  • Identify, evaluate, and make recommendations related to equipment condition in order to prevent and/or minimize equipment failures and downtime

  • Complete preventive maintenance forms and prepare reports

  • Maintain accurate records and keeps inventory

  • Complete maintenance records and maintenance logs

Work Hours

  • Monday - Friday

  • 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

  • Participates in on-call rotation for any emergencies (with emergencies typically only occurring 2-3 times per year)

Provided with this position: Tools, full uniform, steel-toed shoes, all necessary safety equipment (PPE), County-issued vehicle & phone, and laptop while at work.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent

  • Two (2) years of building construction experience related to applicable trade-in Facilities Maintenance

  • Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Formal classroom training pertaining to HVAC systems

  • Valid Universal EPA card

  • Experience performing building trade work in governmental, institutional, or large commercial buildings and building systems

  • Expereince with working with Life Safety

Physical Demands:  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process. 

About Everything Else

Starting Pay: $20.10/ hour (Step 1)

Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience
