Job Summary: Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for planning and operation of a comprehensive human resources program within the Regional Office as well as, advising regional administrators, institution Human Resource Managers and Executive Staff on human resources programs, such as recruitment and placement; position management; labor-management relations; employee relations and benefits; disciplinary and adverse actions; incentive awards; and performance evaluation program. Serves as a member of various regional committees, to include the Regional Workforce Committee. Reviews and evaluates the quality of human resources programs within the institutions located in their region by conducting or providing for on-site technical staff assistance visits. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Must have comprehensive knowledge of various federal personnel programs in order to effective communicate to agency leadership, external stakeholders and other partnerships across government as established by the agency. Experience in directing, coordinating and leading other with the development of personnel programs to identify and recommend solutions to critical key areas impacting the effectiveness of a human resources office or operation. Skilled in effectively managing and advising agency leaders and union official at various levels on labor management relations, staffing, workforce projections, and a multitude of human resource regulations. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
