Position Specific Summary
The Human Resource Analyst position at the City of Tucson’s Human Resources Department performs professional human resources work, specializing in research, analysis, and maintenance of the classification and compensation system.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and analyzes compensation and classification actions, providing recommendations and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable rules and guidelines.
Prepares, reviews, and maintains job classifications, salary scales, and job descriptions for all positions within the organization. Ensures position descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
Completes benchmark analysis for City of Tucson jobs through comparison against survey data and other market intelligence. Uses market data to determine competitive compensation ranges for each job. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses data analysis techniques and tools to assess results and market trends.
Assesses jobs and their duties to determine Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) classification status and appropriate City of Tucson salary range. Collaborates with shared services, human resources satellite teams to conduct job evaluation interviews and survey employees and managers. Gathers and documents job, organizational, and occupational information, including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
Evaluates, develops, modifies, and implements job analysis instruments and materials.
Prepares, analyzes, validates, and troubleshoots classification and compensation data and reports.
Conducts research and analyzes data; provides written correspondence and reports; responds to internal and external inquiries; facilitates human resources-related training; serves on project teams.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
