Human Factors Engineering First Line Leader (BCA SEIT)

USA - Everett, WA Full time
Human Factors Engineering First Line Leader (BCA SEIT)

Company:

The Boeing Company

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) is seeking a highly talented Human Factors Engineering First Line Leader to lead the team located in Everett, WA.

Position Overview:

You will be the first-line manager for technical experts who drive human factors activities that directly enable aircraft safety, certification, and program milestones. Your team will own program-level deliverables and processes — including but not limited to Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), human factors analyses, allocation of human/system functions, and development of systems engineering artifacts required for certification — while partnering across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and global stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of human factors and systems engineering technical experts; set technical direction, prioritize work, and maintain high team performance and morale.

  • Own delivery of key program artifacts (FHAs, task analyses, human/system allocation, HFE verification/validation plans) and ensure they satisfy certification requirements and program schedules.

  • Provide systems engineering expertise and practical guidance to IPTs to resolve complex human-technical integration issues and trade-offs.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment with design, flight deck, simulation, safety, and certification teams; represent HFE positions in technical reviews and program decision forums.

  • Establish and track technical performance metrics, risk reduction activities, and resource plans to meet program commitments.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top human factors talent; cultivate a culture of curiosity, continuous improvement, and discipline technical rigor.

You will also help manage the Design Practice Ecosystem team, which reduces technical debt risk across BCA by improving design standards, reusable artifacts, and engineering practices. In this capacity you’ll collaborate with leads to prioritize technical debt remediation, institutionalize best practices for human-system design, and ensure outputs are adopted across functions to reduce rework and accelerate safe, certifiable designs. If you are passionate about shaping human-system integration on next-generation aircraft and leading a team of technical experts to deliver safe, certifiable solutions at scale, we’d like to hear from you.
