The Hub Planning Manager is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing operational plans for the logistics hub to ensure efficient flow of goods, cost control, and service excellence. This role focuses on resource planning, capacity management, and performance analysis to support Asda’s supply chain objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Planning
Develop and manage daily, weekly, and seasonal plans for inbound and outbound operations.
Ensure accurate forecasting of volumes and resource requirements (labour, vehicles, equipment).
Monitor and adjust plans to meet service level agreements and customer expectations.
Capacity & Resource Management
Balance workload across shifts and teams to optimize productivity.
Collaborate with Transport, Warehouse, and Central Planning teams to align schedules.
Manage contingency plans for peak periods and unexpected disruptions.
Performance Analysis
Track KPIs such as on-time dispatch, cost per case, and labour efficiency.
Use data analytics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide reports and insights to senior management for decision-making.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all planning adheres to health & safety standards and legal requirements.
Maintain compliance with Asda’s operational policies and governance frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the key liaison between hub operations and central planning.
Communicate plans clearly to operational teams and adjust based on feedback.
Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of logistics planning and supply chain operations.
Proficiency in planning tools and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, Excel, SAP).
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and drive improvements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment.
