HR Generalist

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports administration and execution of human resources programs including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, performance management, and leaves of absence.
  • Assists with the recruitment workflow:  scheduling interviews, conducting background screens, employee eligibility/certification verifications, references as requested.
  • Manages employee uniform/scrub orders.
  • Manages pre-employment and onboarding processes including online assessments, pre-employment health screens, I-9 and eVerify compliance.
  • Coordinates disability and workers’ compensation claims, working with insurance carrier and leave administrator.
  • Handles HR-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HRBP and/or manager.
  • Maintains online employee personnel files, as well as ensuring related documents are also in the company’s HRIS (Workday).
  • Updates org charts the first of each month ensuring data is accurate in HRIS system (Workday)
  • Initiates HR-related purchase orders.
  • Coordinates payroll changes for processing
  • Processes tuition and fitness program reimbursements
  • Processes employment verification requests
  • Coordinates with various departments and lead for monthly newsletter(s).
  • Coordinates employee activities/events
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS)

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • At least two (2) years’ related experience required.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR professional practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems, Workday and ADP Workforce Now a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as some domestic travel may be required.
  • Ability to spend extension amount of time sitting, working on a computer.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 10 pounds routinely, up to 25 pounds occasionally.
