HR Business Partner - Trinidad

Position Objective

The HR Business Partner (HRBP), Trinidad, plays a key role in the success of Bristow by effectively supporting all functions of the business in Trinidad. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic HR policies to serve organizational needs, ensuring a high-quality HR function that reflects business requirements while recognizing the importance of employee contributions to achieving high performance.

This is a progressive HR professional role providing comprehensive HR generalist services to the workforce and serving as the primary point of contact for all employees and staffing matters. HRBP works closely with the Management Team, acts as a trusted advisor, and drives change management initiatives.

The role reports directly to the Director, HR Americas, Global Corporate and Talent Management; the Trinidad Area Manager is a matrix manager.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver HR guidance and consultation services to all functions, through building strong relationships with staff.
  • Provide independent counselling to employees and managers to resolve work related problems in relation to performance or discipline-based issues.
  • Support department leaders through significant change for their functions. Provide advice and facilitate techniques for building commitment and countering resistance to change.
  • Develop and nurture employee talent by actively contributing to Talent Management including performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, engagement and culture, retention and rewards, succession planning and strategic workforce planning.
  • Ensure the talent acquisition process supports the acquisition of key and high performing talent with a fast paced and cost-effective delivery.
  • Develop and provide realistic job previews for incoming talent and assess talent by coaching management on the talent acquisition process and interview techniques as required.
  • Ensure all pre-employment tasks and paperwork are completed including offer letters, background checks, drug screens etc.
  • Organize and manage all Trinidad based inductions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment and labor laws by researching best practices and leveraging metrics to measure outcomes and provide strategic recommendations based on analysis and incorporation of appropriate metrics to measure outcomes.
  • Manage labor relations strategy, support and lead collective bargaining efforts as the company representative in negotiations, and maintain relationships with employees, management, and union representatives.
  • Manage the full cycle of employee relations, encompassing performance management, conflict resolution, and compliance with current employment legislation, disciplinary, and grievance procedures.
  • Provide managers with the necessary metrics to ensure they are aware of how their area of responsibility is performing, e.g., Turnover reports, absence statistics etc.
  • Support compensation and benefit projects for areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with budget information as appropriate.
  • Work with HRSS to ensure that workforce tracking is accurate and up to date so that there are no discrepancies in the HR system (iConnect) and Payroll systems for all employees.
  • Lead or assist on key projects by openly contributing ideas and providing required data to project team members throughout the 5 phases of, Project conception and initiation, Project definition and planning, Project launch or execution, Project performance and control and Project close.
  • Support Human Resource Compliance assessment and program compliance to include and not limited to ensuring that new and updated policies and procedures are compliant with local laws and communicated effectively to all staff in areas of responsibility.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field is required
  • 7 plus years of progressive experience as an HR Business Partner and proven background in providing broad generalist HR and payroll advice

Experience

  • Strong background in handling employee relations issues in exempt and non-exempt workforces; experience working with labor relations/unions is required
  • Operating knowledge and experience in working with HRIS systems is required. Knowledge of Workday is a plus
  • Experience in providing support to managers particularly with employee relations, discipline and grievance and legal requirements
  • Strong experience in providing support to managers for Talent Management including workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, coaching, succession planning and employee engagement and retention
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to influence employees and managers at all levels in the organization including coaching and influencing senior business leaders
  • Strong business and operational acumen, client service and results orientation
  • Experience leading complex projects and initiatives. A self-starter, capable of working under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge/experience working with compensation principles, full life cycle recruiting processes, and training & development
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with experience developing and/or tracking HR/Payroll metrics
  • Personal commitment, integrity, high-quality standards and a strong team player
  • Experience in working with different global locations and with different cultures preferred
  • A proven background in providing broad generalist HR advice including policy implementation, and compensation/benefits
  • Ability to demonstrate a real understanding of business issues
  • Experience of working with change management projects desirable
