KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Regional Human Resource Administration and Coordination
- Respond to employee queries on HR-related matters, escalating as required to the Senior HR Business Partner
- Support HR Analyst in delivering HR administration for the region including new hires, leavers, employee benefits, invoicing, personnel files/records management, reference requests, HR system and payroll.
- Liaising with the Organisation Design and Total Rewards teams to evaluate job roles as required
- Coordinate with internal CIBC departments e.g. Business Management, Technology, to ensure they are aware of staff movements and ensure appropriate documentation is shared to enable completion of onboarding, leaver and changes processes and attend weekly calls
- Organise employee events e.g. Lunch and Learns
- Manage the delivery HR Induction Programme, including regular presentation slides updates
- Manager the relocation process for internal moves to the region
Human Resource Policy and Governance
- Provide HR policy interpretation and counsel to employees and People Managers to ensure adherence to Corporate HR policies, programs and standards
- Support and guide managers in the recruitment, selection and on-boarding process within the region
- Effectively partner with Employment Counsel, Policy and Governance and the business on matters of workplace issues, legislative employment requirements to resolve all issues that may arise
- Partner with HR Services and Operations on other governance related activities to support regulatory reporting and co-ordination of internal and external compliance and audit reviews
- Partner with external Immigration Counsel on all immigration regulations and laws to ensure complete compliance for the region
- Provide first line advice on minor Employee Relations matters and support the HRBP on issues that arise within the business
- Provide policy interpretation with regard to pension and benefits policies
- Provides People Managers with guidelines, procedures and available tools from the HR Centres of Expertise to facilitate the delivery of all HR programs.
Performance Management and Capability Development
- Provides guidance to Managers on performance management process
- Supports People Managers to identify and resolve performance management issues including assistance with the escalation of issues through the formal disciplinary process
Reporting & Regulatory
- Prepare ad hoc reports.
- Support HR Analyst in the preparation of regular weekly and monthly reports.
- Develop reports to assist managers, HR Team and Functional Groups in managing their workforce.
- Support the Senior HRBP’s with gathering data on the Employee Survey
Process Improvement
- Review processes and identify areas for improvement and potential solutions.
- Document processes and procedures and review on a quarterly basis
Benefits
- Support Senior HRBP with ongoing benefits management and administration including the annual renewal process
Cross-Functional Relationships
- This job interfaces with other HR counterparts across Europe, Asia and North America and will work in partnership with Centre’s of Expertise globally (e.g. rewards, pension, benefits) for subject matter expertise, HR policy interpretation and handling of workplace issues.
- Interact regularly with all employees and People Leaders in Europe, HR centre of expertise (Talent Management, Compensation, Training and Development, ER, Policy and Governance, etc.)
- External relationships include vendors, consultants, external Legal counsel and industry network groups as appropriate.

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS
- Provides advice and counsel to employees and People Managers on integrated Human Resource solutions that have multiple sets of legislative policies and procedures.
- Given the nature of the role, has the authority to collect and/or be provided with employee information when reviewing reports or conducting HR related activities.

- 2-5 years of experience in an HR Generalist capacity with knowledge of HR concepts, policies and practices
- CIPD Level 3 minimum and 5 preferable or equivalent
- Understanding of HR governance/legislation and CIBC’s HR policies and programs in order to identify compliance and/or regulatory issues and to proactively provide advice and counsel to managers and employees.
- Problem solving skills, ability to determine root cause of issues and arrive at sound HR/Business solutions.
- Communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills in order to work effectively with business leaders and partners.
- Excellent computer skills; must be able to manipulate spreadsheet data and have intermediate level skills (at an absolute minimum) on PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of Workday and other HR systems
- Ability to operate with considerable independence to identify priorities and address policy and program implementation/customization requirements to meet client needs.
