Overview

Sellafield Limited (SL) has identified the need for project and program management support to deliver 17 major construction projects associated with developing the infrastructure required for the reprocessing and making safe of nuclear waste material.  The support SL requires is being procured through the selection of 4 Program and Project Partners (PPP) to form an integrated team for the 20-year programme duration.  The PPP partnership will be comprised of: Integration (Lot 1), Engineering & Design (Lot 2), Civil Construction (Lot 3), Process Construction (Lot 4), and Sellafield.  Each Partner has defined scope responsibility, and combined responsibility for delivering the Major Projects on time and budget.

KBR as Integration Partner will be required to provide strategic and enabling project management support as required to structure and deliver the portfolio of Major Projects under the PPP Project. Major Projects will be delivered through Aligned Delivery Teams (ADT), which will be integrated teams formed from all Lot Partners using the principle of most appropriate person, while taking cognisance of each Lot Partners specific scope responsibility. The Integration Partner will also be required to deliver Site-Wide Project Delivery Improvements and ensure the collaborative working environment with Sellafield Limited and the other Lot Partners is developed and nurtured.

The Role

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager works within the central Integrator EHSSQ team, supporting the Programme and Project Partners partnership at Sellafield.  The role is Cumbria co-located in Westlakes (Banna Court) and across the Sellafield site and is focused on ensuring that health, safety, and wellbeing arrangements across major projects and principal contractors are aligned, consistent, and experienced as a single, joined-up approach.

The role will be responsible for managing the Learning review process for PDD; ensuring effective factfinders, learning reviews, leadership intervention calls, incident review boards and peer review.

A key challenge within the partnership is the existence of multiple wellbeing and safety initiatives across individual projects and contractors. This role will provide coordination, assurance, and leadership to ensure these initiatives are integrated into a coherent, consistent framework that supports safe, healthy, and productive working across the programme.

In addition to the integrator function, the role includes routine health and safety advisory activities, assurance-based compliance work, and day-to-day operational responsibilities supporting the effective management of health, safety, and wellbeing arrangements.


Role Specific Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant management discipline;
  • Relevant professional accreditation (CMIOSH).
  • Proven experience working in a health, safety, and/or wellbeing advisory role within large, complex, or multi-contractor environments.
  • Strong understanding of routine health and safety management arrangements, including risk management, assurance, and compliance activities.
  • Experience in creating and undertaking audits.
  • Good IT skills: Microsoft Word, MS Excel, etc.
  • Full driving Licence essential.
  • Core Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Resourceful and well organised.
  • Capability to operate spreadsheets and conduct simple data manipulation and trending activities.
  • Collaborative approach.
