Dive into the inaugural year of the SeaWorld San Diego Summer Internship Program, an exciting new opportunity designed to give students meaningful, real-world experience in a dynamic theme park environment. As this inaugural year launches, interns will play an important role in shaping a program that will grow for years to come. Internships are open to undergraduate students who are currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university.
What you get to do:
- Assist in conducting workplace observations and basic ergonomic assessments.
- Support documentation of potential safety hazards and improvement opportunities.
- Help review workplace procedures related to employee health and safety compliance.
- Assist in conducting workplace evaluations to ensure safe working practices and procedures.
- Assist with development and delivery of workplace wellness initiatives (e.g. ergonomic stretches, injury prevention and heat prevention measures)
- Contribute to communication materials such as wellness newsletters, training handouts, or digital content.
- Assist in analyzing trends related to injuries, ergonomics issues, or wellness participation.
- Support literature reviews on occupational health and human performance topics.
- Help coordinate wellness events, trainings, or safety campaigns.
- Assist in evaluating program effectiveness and preparing summary reports.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including safety officers, HR staff, and health professionals.
What it takes to succeed:
- Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write and speak English.
- Strong ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from team members, customers, regulatory agencies, or contractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to ensure accurate follow-through on all aspects of compliance in accordance with local and state regulations.
What else is important:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in health and safety field preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods in various weather conditions.
- Consistently practices safe work habits, including using personal protective equipment and lifting safety protocols.
- Willing to comply with all organizational grooming guidelines and employment standards.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a park license.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday with weekends & holidays as needed
Availability: Must have 5 days of open availability, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation: $18/hr
