We are seeking a senior strategic marketing leader to drive the long-term growth and market success of the Advanced Synthesis (ADS) platform. Reporting to the VP, Head of Strategic Marketing, this role will define and execute the platform’s marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with Lonza’s broader One Lonza Strategy and the platform commercial objectives.
As a key partner to platform leadership, the Head of Strategic Marketing will translate business strategy into market-led go-to-market approaches, compelling value propositions, and integrated marketing plans. This role combines strategic thinking, commercial insight, and strong leadership to build high-impact marketing capabilities that accelerate demand generation, innovation adoption, and sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities:
• Define and lead the ADS platform’s strategic marketing direction, ensuring alignment with the platform business objectives and the One Lonza Strategy
• Translate market insights, customer needs, and competitive intelligence into differentiated value propositions and actionable go-to-market strategies
• Drive integrated marketing plans and demand generation initiatives to support sustainable revenue growth and pipeline development
• Partner with platform leadership to shape innovation priorities, support development of new offerings, and ensure successful market launches
• Establish clear performance metrics, demand funnel KPIs, and ROI tracking to continuously optimize marketing effectiveness
• Oversee the development of platform positioning, messaging, and content strategy to strengthen market presence and thought leadership
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering collaboration, capability growth, and a results-driven culture
• Manage the platform marketing budget and allocate resources to maximize strategic impact and efficiency
• Collaborate closely with commercial teams within business platforms and global operational marketing teams to ensure a unified, market-led approach across customer segments
• Identify synergies, share best practices, and drive alignment across the Strategic Marketing organization to enhance overall effectiveness
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field
• Extensive strategic marketing experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO industry
• Strong understanding of pharma development and manufacturing services markets,
• Proven ability to translate business strategy into successful market positioning and growth initiatives
• Strong commercial acumen, including market analysis, segmentation, and value proposition development
Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams in complex, matrixed organizations
• Experience managing marketing budgets and optimizing return on investment
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership
• Ability to operate effectively in a global environment and drive cross-functional alignment
• Fluent in English;
