Role Profile
The Head of APAC is responsible for setting and executing State Street Investment Management’s (SSIM) regional strategy across the Asia Pacific region, aligned to the firm’s global ambitions. The role provides overall executive leadership for the region, ensuring sustained growth, strong operational performance, effective risk and regulatory oversight, and close alignment with global functional leadership in a matrixed environment.
The Head of APAC acts as the senior representative of SSIM in the region, accountable for regional cohesion, governance, and execution, while partnering closely with global business, investment, and corporate leaders to deliver SSIM’s market‑leading position in APAC.
Key Accountabilities
Regional Strategy & Performance
Define and drive execution of a clearly articulated APAC regional strategy aligned to SSIM’s global strategy, objectives, and growth priorities.
Balance regional and global priorities to deliver sustainable growth, competitive positioning, and operational effectiveness across APAC.
Ensure regional plans reflect client needs, market dynamics, and regulatory considerations.
Executive Leadership & Decision‑Making
Lead the APAC Executive Committee, bringing together regional leaders from global and corporate functions to drive effective decision‑making and execution.
Provide clear leadership, direction, and accountability across the regional leadership team.
Act as a member of some of SSIM’s most senior global governance forums.
Build a high‑performance, inclusive culture that attracts, develops, and retains top talent across diverse markets and geographies.
Champion SSIM’s values, leadership standards, and talent agenda across the region.
Client & External Engagement
Serve as a senior client‑facing leader for SSIM’s most strategic clients in the region.
Represent SSIM externally with regulators, industry bodies, media, and other key stakeholders.
Strengthen SSIM’s regional brand, reputation, and market presence.
Governance, Risk & Regulatory Oversight
Hold ultimate accountability for regional regulatory oversight, ensuring compliance with all applicable local and regional regulatory requirements.
Anticipate and respond to regulatory developments, ensuring regional strategy and operating models remain compliant and resilient.
Act as the senior accountable executive for regional risk management and governance frameworks.
Operating Model & Regional Resilience
Develop and oversee a resilient regional operating model aligned to client priorities, regulatory expectations, and SSIM’s global risk framework.
Ensure effective coordination across business, investment, operations, and corporate functions within a matrixed structure.
Oversee region‑specific operational responsibilities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven senior executive leadership experience within asset management or financial services, with responsibility across multiple countries or regions.
Strong track record of setting and executing regional or business‑unit strategy within a global, matrixed organization.
Deep understanding of APAC financial markets, regulatory environments, and client landscapes.
Demonstrated ability to balance commercial growth, regulatory accountability, and operational resilience.
Strong client‑facing credibility with experience engaging C‑suite stakeholders.
Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively across cultures and geographies.
High degree of judgment, integrity, and risk awareness appropriate to a senior regulated role.
