What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $60,064-$80,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule

In this position you can expect to work in-person at Denver International Airport 3 days a week, with the option to work 2 days a week from home. Office hours are 8:30–5:00.

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field at least three days a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days, and this is subject to change.

Denver International Airport is looking for an experienced Graphic Designer who will work with both internal and external clients to create a broad range of graphic design solutions for print and digital media projects including branding, digital design and large-format design and printing. We are looking for an individual who can execute graphic design projects through pre- to post-production while maintaining quality and accuracy. This person will be involved in various capacities with a large volume of projects, many from start to finish, while upholding brand standards. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with great attention to detail and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Create and execute design concepts for print and digital media by designing complex graphics, using independent judgment and creativity, and utilizing the latest design technology
  • Faithfully adhere to the DEN brand and create cohesive graphics, but have the vision to explore multiple design solutions
  • Create digital graphics for social, out-of-home, email, presentations, and interior large-scale screens
  • Be literate in ADA compliance and accessibility-forward design
  • Have experience with interpreting maps and/or other technical data and creating a graphic representation for external use
  • Create large-scale graphics for application on a variety of spaces, barricades, vehicles and other unique environments/spaces
  • Conceptualize and produce design comps that represent a planned presentation of the customer’s material, product or service
  • Create DEN’s marketing and communications materials, including email, online, print collateral display graphics, etc.
  • Design multi-page reports that include photos, graphs, maps, and other statistic-heavy graphics
  • Participate in design and production of multimedia campaigns, assist with production coordination, background design and progress tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Five-year minimum professional experience in graphic design, preferably with agencies, in-house creative trams, and/or government
  • Demonstrated experience designing web and print products, creating designs for brochures, reports, posters, magazines, banners, website pages, trade show signage, etc.
  • Experience working within a brand system
  • Comfortable working responsibly with AI tools including Adobe Firefly
  • Computer literate with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat)
  • Distill complex, technical representations and make them visually appealing to a wide audience
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work closely with the team to determine priorities and meet deadlines
  • Confidence and know-how to manage projects independently
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills that include adaptability and the ability to navigate change with a
    solutions-based mindset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and professionalism
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to problem-solve
  • Portray emotional intelligence and resiliency in the face of critique and feedback
  • Brainstorm and contribute ideas for a more efficient workflow

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communications, Graphic Arts, Graphics Design, Multimedia Design or a related field of study.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience in graphic design or developing visual materials or signage design. Two of the three years must be experience in computer aided design and publication.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
  • License/Certifications: None
