ING

Global Management Consultant

CDR (Amsterdam - Cedar) Full time

Global Management Consultant (GJA19)

We are hiring a Senior Management Consultant to help ING move forward on key strategic priorities across the bank. In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders to understand their most important challenges and translate them into clear, practical plans. You will support topics such as shaping ING’s strategy, improving ways of working, redesigning team and organisational structures, and turning long‑term ambitions into realistic, actionable steps.

You will help clarify complex issues, break them into manageable components, and support decision‑making by presenting clear options and recommendations. You will lead initiatives from problem definition through solution development and prepare teams for effective implementation. Your work will help ING make better decisions, improve alignment across the organisation and deliver meaningful, sustainable progress.

Examples of the type of work you might do include:

  • Helping senior stakeholders and their teams shape their strategies

  • Designing how a department or function should be structured (Target Operating Model)

  • Assessing the impact of new regulations on our business and advising on next steps

  • Improving value propositions to better meet customer or internal stakeholder needs

The team

You will join ING’s Global Consulting team, our in‑house consultancy within COO Tech & Transformation, which consists of both Management and Tech Consultants. We work across all business and technology areas of the bank. Our role is to help ING’s leadership turn strategy into real results: by clarifying what needs to happen, designing how teams and processes should be organised, and supporting major change initiatives. We ensure that strategic plans are not only well‑designed but can also be carried out effectively and sustainably.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering complex change across the organisation. You combine strategic thinking with strong execution skills and act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders. In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex business challenges by structuring ambiguity, analysing root causes, and translating insights into clear, practical recommendations

  • Translate strategy into execution, defining concrete objectives, measurable outcomes and clear implementation roadmaps

  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders across functions to build alignment, manage expectations, and ensure shared ownership of outcomes

  • Identify dependencies and risks early, using qualitative and quantitative data to steer decision‑making and proactively keep initiatives on track

  • Drive consistency and quality in change delivery by contributing to the development of tools, templates, playbooks, and ways of working that strengthen execution

  • Create clear and compelling management communication, including presentations and storylines for senior management that enable informed decision making

  • Act as a role model for consulting excellence, demonstrating structured problem‑solving, strong communication skills, and a delivery‑oriented mindset

  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving skills

  • Ability to simplify complexity and translate insights into actionable outcomes

  • High organisational awareness and strong stakeholder management skills
