Who We Are Looking For
State Street Investment Management (“State Street IM”) seeks a seasoned senior leader to oversee our front office Equities portfolio management technology strategy and technology platforms. This role reports to the State Street IM Head of Strategy and Operations, Investments. This position will be based out of Boston, Stamford, or London.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As the Global Head of Equities Portfolio Management Technology, you will be accountable for the definition and execution of the strategic vision for platforms that support Equities, from portfolio construction to implementation.
This role owns engineering solution implementation and delivery for Equities. The role collaborates closely with the product manager in the investments business and the solution architect to design, develop, validate, and deploy platform software supporting critical Equities capabilities at scale. The role supports the product owner function and is accountable for the successful implementation and delivery of solutions within the Equities domain against a strategic blueprint to provide the future state capabilities to support the business evolution.
You will act as a key strategic partner to portfolio managers, investment oversight, trading leadership, and the Investments strategy and operations organization while also serving as a critical liaison to enterprise architecture, data and AI teams, and external vendors across the firm. This role requires a deep understanding of front office investment workflows in Equities, as well as emerging technologies including AI/ML, digital, advanced data and analytical methodology, and cloud-native capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Define and lead the global technology strategy for Equities portfolio management platforms, aligning with State Street IM’s investment philosophy and evolving product mix.
Collaborate with Investments, Trading, Risk, and COO leadership to align the technology roadmap with business goals and front office efficiency priorities.
Serve as the accountable executive for the delivery, resilience, and scalability of Equities portfolio management platforms.
Engineering Excellence
Oversee technology for portfolio construction and related analytics in support of the global front office Equity investment teams.
Deliver capabilities for portfolio construction, connecting order management, portfolio and pre-trade analytics in support of Equities investments business.
Champion cloud adoption, modular architecture, and integration with State Street Alpha and other strategic platforms.
Innovation and Best Practices: Drive the adoption of new technologies ( AI, Cloud etc) and best practices within the engineering teams. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to ensure that our technological solutions remain at the forefront of the industry.
Quality and Performance: Ensure that all technological solutions are designed and implemented with the highest standards of quality and performance. This includes rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to industry standards and guidelines.
Collaboration and Mentorship: Promote a collaborative environment where engineers are encouraged to share knowledge and mentor each other. Provide guidance and support to help team members grow and develop their skills.
Scalability and Resilience: Design and implement scalable and resilient systems that can handle the demands of a global investment management firm.
Security and Compliance: Work with security and compliance teams to ensure that all technology solutions comply with relevant security and regulatory requirements. Implement best practices for data protection and privacy to safeguard our clients' information.
Execution & Oversight
Lead the Equities portfolio management technology team, fostering a high-performance culture with a focus on innovation, ownership, and delivery excellence.
Manage relevant vendor relationships, ensuring robust integration, and service levels.
Oversee the technology lifecycle—from concept to adoption—across the platform’s global user base.
Qualifications
Over 15 years of leadership experience in front office technology platforms within institutional asset management, with deep expertise in Equities and equity-based derivatives.
Proven ability to drive innovation and deliver scalable solutions in complex financial environments.
Deep familiarity with investment lifecycle and front office portfolio management, trading, investment oversight for Equities.
Proven record of managing global teams across product, technology, and data domains.
Advanced understanding of data science, APIs, and cloud architecture.
Exceptional leadership, relationship-building, and stakeholder communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into scalable, user-centric technology solutions.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Finance, Engineering, or related field required.
Advanced degrees (MBA, MS Financial Engineering, CFA, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.
Global, multi-jurisdictional experience in a regulated financial environment preferred.
Salary Range:
$170,000 - $282,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
